Vehicle Rentals to and from the Des Moines Airport

ISU has negotiated a special agreement with Enterprise Rent A Car for vehicle rentals to or from Ames and the Des Moines Airport. Any University employee over 21* may take advantage of this offer for business or personal travel by showing a university identification card and a valid driver's license. *A driver between the ages of 21 and 25 can rent a vehicle if this driver has transferable insurance coverage.

Rental and Drop-off Procedures during Normal Business Hours

To make reservations, call Transportation Services (294-1882) or Enterprise Rent A Car (1-800-RENTACAR; 1-800-736-8222). Because these rentals are booked as one-way trips, be certain to make reservations for both your outbound and inbound trips (leaving from and returning back to Ames).
Ames rental vehicles 1) may be picked up at the Enterprise 535 South Duff Avenue office or 2) Enterprise will transport vehicle renter from home or office to the Ames Enterprise office to sign for the vehicle. (To request Option 2, dial 1-800-RENTACAR (1-800-736-8222) and press 1 at the prompt.) Forms will be ready to sign at the Enterprise office. The rate is the normal daily rate (listed below), and insurance is included in this rate.
In Des Moines, drive to the Enterprise Rent A Car office at 5601 Fleur Drive (just east of the airport). An Enterprise employee will drive you and your luggage to the airport.
To request a vehicle when at the Des Moines Airport and ready to return to Ames, dial 1-800-RENTACAR (1-800-736-8222) and press 1 at the prompt. Enterprise will meet the vehicle renter at the airport baggage claim area and transport to the Des Moines Enterprise office on Fleur Drive to sign for the vehicle.
Upon arrival in Ames, drive to the Enterprise 535 South Duff Avenue office. An Enterprise employee will drive traveler home or to the office.

NOTE: Special arrangements sometimes may be made for after-hours vehicle pickup, however, providing after-hours service is not guaranteed under this agreement. Any arrangements for after-hours vehicle pickup must be made in advance with the Enterprise office providing the vehicle.

After-Hours Vehicle Drop-off

In Ames If returning a vehicle after hours in Ames, park the vehicle in the Enterprise parking lot at 535 South Duff Avenue. Use the Key Drop box.In Des Moines If returning a vehicle after hours in Des Moines, park the vehicle in the Enterprise parking lot at 5601 Fleur Drive. Lock the vehicle and take the keys to Keck's Parking Lot (across the street at 5555 Fleur Drive).

For the 12-month period following January 2004, the rates will be just $1.00 per day more on each vehicle category.

If there is adequate participation in this program, Enterprise will increase the number and variety of vehicles available.

Limousine Service to and from the Des Moines Airport Occasionally transportation to or from the Des Moines Airport is needed for visitors. The following limousine services are available. Services may be paid by the individual and reimbursed on an honorarium or the Purchasing Department can be contacted to obtain a purchase order to pay for these services.

Parking in Des Moines Airport AreaWhen flying out of the Des Moines Airport, there are several options for parking locations.

The Airport Short-term Parking Lot is $1.00 per 1/2 hour with a maximum of $15 in a 24-hour period.

The Airport Long-term Parking Lot is $2.00 per hour with a maximum of $7 in a 24-hour period.

The Airport Economy Parking Lot is $0.50 per hour with a maximum of $8.00 in a 24-hour period. The economy parking lot is located on the corner of Army Post Road and Fleur Drive. The Keck Parking Lot is $0.50 per hour with a maximum of $3.25 in a 24-hour period for an identified ISU traveler with tickets purchased through Travel and Transport. The Keck Parking Lot is located on Fleur Drive and also has a free shuttle to and from the airport terminal 24 hours a day.
